Will Major League Baseball ever draft a girl athlete?
Drafted? Yes. This has already happened.
The Chicago White Sox picked high school skill Carey Schueler in the 43rd round of the June 1993 amateur draft.
Realize Schueler was selected because a specific, and sooner petty, reason. White Sox catcher Carlton Fisk had a son who was, at the time, a slight prospect. However, Fisk and White Sox GM Ron Schueler were over pretty bad terms at the all (Fisk's career was around over; the Sox were keeping him about partial to enjoy him break the games caught record). As a way of giving a virtual finger to Fisk, Schueler passed over his son also drafted his own daughter.
The younger Schueler never signed, also went on to college, where she was pretty vile on basketball.
Casey Fisk played for two seasons in unaided leagues.
